What…you thought we were done ripping those headlines for your benefit?! No way!

Our friends at Compass Test Prep have a penchant for keeping up with recent trends and changes in standardized testing policies, and this year is no different. The trend over the last few years has been a steady decline in the number of colleges and universities that require (or strongly recommend) the SAT Subject Tests as part of their admission review. This year the change is stark. Effective on March 20th, the last school in the nation that had a hard-and-fast requirement for SAT Subject testing (MIT) jettisoned the requirement. Both Harvey Mudd College and Caltech, two of the other top engineering-heavy programs in the nation, ditched their Subject Test requirements within the last 30 days, with Caltech going so far as to say they are no longer considering them as part of the admission decision process. This leaves only McGill University in Canada as the last known school in North America that still requires the SAT and two SAT Subject Tests OR the ACT w/ writing). Duke, Georgetown, Princeton and Yale still ‘strongly recommend’ the SAT Subject Tests but do not require them to have a complete application.
